Peter the Fisherman

John Meredith, the Diocese Director of Education has been working with Year 2 and 3 pupils to create animations depicting the story of how Peter was chosen to be a disciple.

RE with Mr Meredith-Peter and the Fish

Today we enjoyed a visit from Mr Meredith, Head of Education for the Brecon and Swansea Diocese. He told us a Bible story and then we created fish to put in Peter’s net and looked at a religious painting. He was so impressed with how articulate we all were and how well we could share our ideas.

Hot Cross Bun Baking

Today, as part of our RE work, we made hot cross buns with some special helpers. We followed the recipe and thought about when we eat hot cross buns and why there is a cross on the top.

New Teachers!

Today the children have enjoyed applying their number bonds when writing their own word problems. They wrote their own problems and enjoyed asking their friends to solve them.

Cross Country

Well done to all the children who took part in the cross country at Bedstone. It was tough but they all put in 100% effort and it was a great day!

Story Telling Sessions

We have been making a wonderful story with the super story tellers who have visited school. The story is about an island where many dinosaurs have been injured by the lava and smoke from a volcano. The children were given many tasks. They had to think of ways to transport the dinosaurs to hospital, design and build a hospital for the dinosaurs and then make the dinosaurs a safe space on the island to build a town. The children have worked as a team and have solved many problems. Well done everyone!

The volcano is very dangerous and many dinosaurs were injured by the lava and the smoke.

The children were presented with medals and certificates.

The Last Garden

We worked with Peter and Sharon to create another story based on ‘The Last Garden’. The story was based in Bosnia in 1996 and told the story of a girl that had to leave her home and her beautiful garden. We travelled back in time and met Slev who had taken refuge in the garden. He had no home and was looking after lots of children that had lost their families. They also met Zara’s mum (a character from the story ) who had returned back to her home after many years away from the garden. The children had the opportunity to hot seat her and ask her questions about her life and what it was like being a refugee.

The children decided that they would like to help Slev, Zara and her mum rebuild the garden. So they went back to the future and gathered resources that they would need to grow the garden again. When they returned to the garden and rebuilt it, they welcomed Zara back and they all had a party.

Cross Country!

Some of the children in Years 3,4,5&6 went to a cross country competition at Bedstone. The children showed great determination as the course was tough but came away with some great results. Da Iawn!

Science enrichment day

Cnoc-y-coed had lots of fun ‘playing’ with science! Learning about mixing and separating solids, liquids and gases.
