Project Afon _ River Project

Today, the Year 5s in Barcud Coch took a very wet walk to the River Teme- near the Offa’s Dyke Centre. Sarah and Toni were delivering sessions as part of the Celebrating the Teme project.

We found all sorts of creatures, so many more than we expected to! It made us think twice about throwing stones into the river…as fun as that is!

Dinosaur homework

Pupils in Aderyn Du were given some homework to create a dinosaur made out of recycled materials, and to follow a recipe to make their own dinosaur poo! All the children created some fantastic finished products and enjoyed showing them to the rest of the class.

Gardening

We have enjoyed gardening with Tom from the Community Garden and we look forward to sampling some of the vegetables in the Autumn.

Dai Woolridge

Spoken Word poet and author Dai Woolridge visited us and shared his creation story with us. It inspired us to write our own poetry and share it with the rest of the school. We also enjoyed a special performance after school for parents and members of the community.

Year 2 and 3 Summer Production

We enjoyed returning back to the stage again for our Summer production of Pirates Versus Mermaids. Here are a few pictures of such a memorable show!

Rhymes\Rhigymau

This week our literacy focus has been poetry so we have been learning Traditional Rhymes. We have learned, ‘Pat a Cake Pat a Cake’, ‘Old Mother Hubbard’, ‘Two Little Dickie Birds’ and skipping rhyme ‘Teddy Bear Teddy Bear.’

Dai Woolridge!

We were so lucky that the Worship Council has organised for Dai Woolridge to visit us in school! We had great fun working with Dai. He is a spoken word poet, story teller, and children’s author. He shared some of his poems and books with us. We then created our own poems around an animal we liked.
