Children in Dosbarth Gwennol have enjoyed having a visit with Louise from Pyjama Drama. Louise helped them to create a performance based on the spread of the Great Fire of London. Well done Lacy for sitting in the hot seat and taking on the role of Thomas Farriner!
Today we started our Mantle of the Expert theme looking at Earth’s ‘elements’ by being a team of investigators exploring the layers of the Earth. We used salt dough to make models of the Earth.
We were joined by Angela today from Mid West Wales Fire Brigade. Angela is a fire safety officer. She talked to us about the types of fire, fire hazards and she read us a story about a dragon called Sbarc with an important message “Don’t touch, tell!” The story was about the danger of touching lighters and matches.
Today we were visited by our Fire Education Officer. She explained the importance of smoke detectors in the home, which should be tested weekly. She explained what not to do in our home with the aim of preventing fires from starting. She also explained what to do if there is a fire: Get out, Stay out, Ring 999.

We have been learning about doubling numbers.
We collected an interesting leaf and took it to the outdoor classroom where we drew around it as carefully as we could. Afterwards we matched the leaves with their outlines.
We have been using our Literacy skills (fine motor skills) in the outdoors to draw leaf outlines. We discussed the different shapes, sizes, colours and described the leaves to our friends.

Children in Dosbarth Gwennol and Dosbarth Jac-Y-Do have enjoyed creating pieces of artwork about the element of water. They have created pictures of rivers, sea storms, and waterfalls. The paper and colours have kindly been donated by Knighton and District Rotary Club. The pictures will be entered into a competition that will be judged in March by the Rotary Club. Pob Lwc!
