The importance of handwashing by the School Nurse

We had Sara, the school nurse join us this afternoon to teach us the importance of washing our hands. We learned a song and tested our hands under a special light to see if we had any germs on them. After this, we used the song we had learned from Sara to wash our hands properly and tested them again under the special light. We were all amazed at how well we washed our hands as most of the germs had disappeared.

Healthy Schools Council 2024/25

This week we held our first Healthy Schools council meeting of the year. We discussed the healthy eating poster competition that was held last year and whether we thought this was effective. We also talked about if there was anything else the pupils wanted to do to promote healthy eating in school. We are going to encourage our friends to have two pieces of fruit or veg for lunch every day.

Jigsaw – Healthy Me (Medicine)

In our Jigsaw sessions we have been learning how medicines work in our body and how it is important that we use them safely.

NEVER take anyone else’s medicine.

Keep medicine out of the reach of children.

ONLY take medicine that an adult you trust gives you.

ONLY take the dosage on the label.

Cogurdd 2023

Urdd members in year 5/6 were given the opportunity to compete in the school round of this years Cogurdd competition, with the task being to create a salad of their choice in 45 minutes. 14 members participated this year and all really enjoyed the challenge of making their own salads using many different skills in the process. Mrs. Layton had the difficult task of blind judging the top 3, with the winner going through to represent Knighton at the regional round. Llongyfarchiadau/Congratulations to Beatrice Cadwallader on winning the school round!
