A place of Sanctuary
During Assembly on Monday we celebrated being appraised as a School of Sanctuary. Members of the appraisal team commented “It was such a pleasure to spend time with your pupils and hear about their learning. They are an absolute credit to you and clearly demonstrate what a warm and welcoming place Knighton School is”. They also added “Pupil voice in school is clearly very well embedded through your variety of councils and they feel empowered to make changes.” We are all very proud.
Dydd Santes Dwynwen Hapus
Some of our Year 6 pupils gave out some origami hearts (calon) to our parents to wish them a ‘Dydd Santes Dwynwen Hapus’.
St David’s Day celebration practise
Today Judith volunteered her time to help some of our pupils who will be helping to celebrate St David’s day in the community on Sunday 2nd March. They learned a song and began a Twmpath to the tune of ‘Mi welais Jac y do’. They were fantastic, da iawn bawb!
Dydd Santes Dwynwen
We have been listening to the story of Santes Dwynwen. We made some origami hearts to spread the love. We watched the video on mute and had the instructions in Welsh…!

Circus Skills/Sgiliau Syrcas
Cwis Dim Clem
Today we took part in the Cwis Dim Clem. We were the third of 27 schools to take part. We will have to wait to find out if we have got through to the next round.
We had 2 winning teams. If our score of 30/40 is high enough, 4 out 5 of them will represent Knighton in the next round!
Tiddler
This afternoon, we went outdoors and made images of story character ‘Tiddler.’ The children did an amazing job, creating the fish shape, fins, scales and other features. Great team work!
Building LEGO Rollercoasters and Programming
We had a super Science and Technology day using LEGO to build our rollercoasters. First of all, we used the LEGO to build our track and then we tested our rollercoaster from the launcher to see if it would stay on the track.
We then used LEGO We do to program a sensor which had a windmill attached to it. We put our sensor next to the track and every time the rollercoaster went past the sensor, the windmill would spin.
Sports council Santa run and Dance off
A massive well done to Sports Council for organising the Santa run and Dance off, raising an amazing £54 for St. Michaels Hospice. Da iawn pawb!
