Cwis Dim Clem

Today we took part in the Cwis Dim Clem. We were the third of 27 schools to take part. We will have to wait to find out if we have got through to the next round.

We had 2 winning teams. If our score of 30/40 is high enough, 4 out 5 of them will represent Knighton in the next round!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

We have been enjoying reading this book so far this term. We have completed some descriptive writing around the characters and creating emotions within scenes. We have created freeze-frames of the moment Charlie found the Golden Ticket. We have also tried to create some portraits in the style of Quentin Blake…here are some of our first attempts at painting them.

Christmas Fayre 2024

The children thoroughly enjoyed designing and making a variety of items to sell at our Christmas Fayre this year. They carefully sourced materials and looked at profit margins to make sure that they did not make a loss! The Fayre was supported brilliantly by families and our community and we managed to make £953.20. Bendigedig pawb! What a fantastic event!

Father Christmas paid a visit and was very impressed with his ‘Narnia’ grotto, through the wardrobe!

Parti’r Nadolig!

This afternoon we had some Christmas fun playing Charades and pictionary. We didn’t get a photo of musical statues or everyone enjoying a Popdot (mini doughnut cake) kindly donated by Co-op…! The children finished the day off by playing games, colouring and building models.

Enillwyr Tocynnau Cymraeg

Congratulations to our Welsh badge winners last week. You have been using lots of incidental Welsh inside and outside of the classroom. Bendigedig pawb!!

Cacennau

’Diolch’ to Larry who came in on Monday to do some baking with some Year 6 pupils. The cakes were gluten-free, and dairy-free or vegan. They had to do some problem-solving when they realised an ingredient was missing but handled the situation very well! The cakes have been very much enjoyed, particularly the apple loaf cake!

Human Rights Day

Year 6 studied a scene depicting a very busy every-day scene. They had to look for rights being enjoyed, being requested and being denied. We later looked through all of the human rights and had to choose some to diamond rank. Our concluding thoughts were that the type of life someone has lived will affect which human rights they consider to be the most important. They also queried whether soldiers were free… .

The Welsh Whisperer\Y Sibrwd Cymraeg

The Welsh Whisperer visited Dosbarth Hwyaid Bach, Eryr and Jac-y-Do yesterday to compose a Christmas Song of our very own. We worked within our classes in the morning to compose the lyrics for the song and then all came together in the afternoon to perform the song to the rest of the school. The children agreed that our Christmas Song was a hit and we are all very proud of ourselves of how well it went!!

The Welsh Whisperer then let us party alongside him with him playing a selection of his very own songs. We loved this too, and as you can see from the photos, we all had an amazing time!!
