Pyjama Drama

Thank you to Louise from Pyjama Drama. We had a fantastic time using our drama skills to pretend Pinocchio went on a plane to Spain where he had a fantastic camping holiday, swam in the sea, went to a park and had a train ride. We role-played that we were Pinocchio in the ending of our story.

Shapiau

Reception have been learning to recognise and name 2D shapes. Here, they used the shapes to create a picture. The pupils talked about their shapes and named the ones they had used.

Music with Mr Burrows

On Thursday Aderyn Du had Mr Burrows from John Beddoes Campus come into class to teach them about some music relating to China. They had a go at creating their own music using the glockenspiels.

Chrome Music Lab

We used our digital skills to create our very own music on the iPads. We were all very good at this and loved exploring on the Chrome Music Lab.

Earthquake simulator

We wanted to establish which shape base was the strongest for skyscrapers. We decided to build models of skyscrapers using LEGO and K’nex and then use LEGO We Do to create an earthquake simulator. We placed the models on the simulator to test how robust they were. Unfortunately the models were either too heavy for the simulator to move or too tall to stand upright on the simulator! We tried it on the table and carpet in the hope that the amount of friction would help, it didn’t. One of our class members thought to attach a LEGO plate as a base for the models to stand on, this didn’t work either!

Structure building using Spaghetti and Marshmallows

As part of our Mantle Topic ‘Skyscrapers,’ Aderyn Du have been planning a skyscraper to Build in Cardiff. We have been looking at different designs and structures and different ways they could be built. We explored a variety of structures by using spaghetti and marshmallows. As you can see from the pictures, some of our structures were unsuccessful, so we evaluated our designs and tried again. We discussed how we could improve our structures and how we could make them stronger and taller.

Measuring the Perimeter and Area of our Skyscrapers

As part of our Mantle this term, Aderyn Du are designing new skyscrapers to be built in Cardiff. We went onto the field to measure the perimeter of our buildings and decided if we thought it was a suitable size. We then calculated the total area and perimeter of our skyscrapers.

RE-Names are Precious

Today we learned that our own names are special and God’s name is special too. Here you can see we have used our artistic skills to paint our names and God’s name.
