Beanstalk Building!

This afternoon, we had great fun building a beanstalk that was longer than all of us! The children showed great building skills and wonderful engagement in the task.

Labelling the Beanstalk

We have enjoyed using our reading skills to label Jack’s beanstalk. We used the pictures on the labels, initial sounds and blending to read the labels and put them in the correct places.

Hotseating-A Beautiful Butterfly

This week we have been using our drama skills to take on the role of the butterfly from ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ย  The children thought of great questions to ask the butterfly and when in role as the butterfly, answered as that character. They did an amazing job!

Releasing the Butterflies!

Today we let our five beautiful butterflies go on the school field. They were a little nervous to begin with but once they got used to being outside they soon flew away!

Bug Hotels

We have been learning about the habitats of different minibeasts and finding out where different minibeasts like to live. We then went out onto the field and made bug hotels using boxes, tubes and natural materials.

Butterfly Life-Cycle Dances

We have enjoyed the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar and have been learning how caterpillars change into butterflies. We created dances to show the life-cycle at each stage.
